‘John Wick’ TV Series has sights set on Starz With Keanu Reeves Attached

Violence on Continental grounds is a violation, thus rendering you “Ex Communicado.”

Lucky for us, Starz has other plans as they push forward with their Keanu Reeves’-backed drama entitled ‘The Continental.’

In the film franchise, the Continental serves as a refuge for assassins. The potential for the TV series to elaborate upon that mythos is tantalizing, to say the least.

Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy, Man in the High Castle, The Wire) will handle the script writing and serve as the showrunner should the drama move forward. The film franchise’s creative team remains largely intact comprised of Basil Iwanyk (producer of the first two features), Chad Stahleski (director of the film franchise), screenwriters Derek Kolstad, Collins, David Leitch (co-director of John Wick) and Keanu Reeves, the Baba Yaga himself.

Stahleski has been rumored to direct the premiere of ‘The Continental,’ should the script move forward.

The first two movies in the John Wick trilology have become hugely successful – grossing of $300 million worldwide –  with the third movie set to release in 2019.

While in its infancy, Starz CEO Chris Albrecht provided a little insight into what fans of the franchise can expect.

“The Continental promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introduce some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.”

‘The Continental’ lands at Starz amidst a slew of originals that include Ash vs Evil Dead, Outlander, Counterpart and the incredibly popular American Gods.

Our only hope is that with Starz being tied to the franchise, we get more of Ian McShane‘s awesome portrayal of Winston, curator of the Continental.

No release date has been provided by Starz but anticipate The Continental blasting its way to your TV in 2019.
