There are many things you can do within the Seven Kingdoms of HBO’s Game of Thrones that are perfectly acceptable. You can have an incestuous affair with your sibling, blow up a portion of the city, plot to kill a king, and even KILL a king. Never, ever though, shoot a dragon.
Really? This is where we draw the line?
One of the most beloved and revered characters in all of Westeros is Bronn, portrayed by Jerome Flynn. Well, he was, at least. Apparently, if you defend yourself against an incoming dragon attack by shooting and wounding the fire-breathing fiend, even your postal carrier will hate you.
Following “Spoils of War” episode” Flynn was interviewed with GoT’s production recap Making Game of Thrones, where he talked the excitement of getting to shoot Qyburn’s surface-to-dragon bolt and the reception to the epic climax.
“I was surprised when I was watching it. I spent weeks on that sequence, but I was on the edge of my seat, the adrenaline was running–they really nailed it. Although since the day the battle aired, I’ve been a little unpopular, I have to say. My postman won’t speak to me because I shot the dragon.”
Honestly though, what was Bronn to do? Stand there and become a Westerosi Crispy Critter? Absolutely not. He deserves to go out in a blaze of glory, not just a blaze.
What say you, lords and ladies? Are you angry that Bronn shot Drogon? Confess…your thoughts in the comments.
