Fall TV Preview: 8 Network Shows That Actually Excite Us

6.) Frequency (The CW)

2016-new-shows-frequencyPremiere: Oct. 5, 8:00 CT

Plot: A police detective in 2016 discovers she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father, a detective who died in 1996. The two must work together to change the history of tragic events to come, while also getting the chance to heal their complicated relationship.

Why we’re excited: If you’ve never seen the 2000 film on which this series is based, you need to rent it right now! Although the concept sounds slightly different and will have to remain open-ended for as long as the series lasts, it’s a good one and we’re interested in how it translates from the big screen to the small screen.

5.) This Is Us (NBC)

This Is Us - Season PilotPremiere: Sept. 20, 9:00 CT

Plot: A one-hour dramedy about a group of people born on the same day, including a married couple expecting triplets and a handsome television actor growing bored with his bachelor lifestyle.

Why we’re excited: Star Milo Ventimiglia says, “It’s a show that will definitely break your heart, but also kind of reach through and give it a hug at the same time.” It also stars Mandy Moore and a shirtless Justin Hartley, which is reason alone to be excited about this one!
