Anthony Hopkins is the creepy mastermind behind a fabricated world full of humanoids force to live out the lives that the puppet master creates. This demented Truman Show is based on the 1973 Michael Crichton-directed movie of the same name.
In HBO’s new trailer for Westworld Maeve comes to the realization that something is off about the world around her and the life she leads. Waking up in a completely different life than the one she left behind before she closed her eyes. She questions the motives of Anthony Hopkins after she understands what she is dealing with cannot be explained.
“Do you know where you are?”
“I’m in a dream.” she mutters.
In which Hopkins replies, “You’re in my dream.”
We then see a montage of action and adventure that includes gatlin guns, explosions, and mysterious mystery man in the shadows pointing a gun…ending on the line “Time to write my own story…” Looks like Truman found out the sky is a wall! The series looks creepy, well crafted with an endless opportunity of new characters that could be created by Hopkins. He plays creepy and subtle maybe better than anyone else in film. Hopkins is able to mix intellectual with a terrifying underbelly that you still some how root for in just about every role he takes on. Even when he was eating people with fava beans and a nice chianti.
Westworld is produced by Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams and Jonathan Nolan, who co-wrote several of brother Christopher’s movies, including The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar. The high-profile cast also includes Jeffrey Wright (Casino, The Hunger Games) and Jimmi Simpson (House of Cards, The Newsroom).
Enter Westworld for yourself when it premieres on HBO October 2.
