‘Westworld’ creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy introduce the Drone Hosts and the amazing custom design and acting that goes into perfecting the white robots that come to life in the new season of ‘Westworld.’

“All of the host in Westworld everything is done with an eye towards deceiving, the guest. They should look and feel as real as possible. We wanted to see what a host would look like if you strip all of that away. They didn’t have to fool anyone – they could just be an essential version of themselves – robots expressed in biological material.” said creator Jonthan Nolan on the idea behind the drone hosts.

He went on to say, “When you take away somethings eyes, take away their ears when you take a human form and get rid of the inessential you create something that feels like us enough, that you begin to attribute agency, your looking for the soul in this thing and it’s not there.”

Look at the Michael Myers mask for instance. Carpenter struggled to find the right look for his iconic character until a happy accident happened. He used a William Shatner mask turned inside out which became void of features. A blank canvas can induce an eerie feeling.
