To say people are excited for Season 3 of Stranger Things, is putting it mildly. People are waiting with baited breath, for the show to finally hit Netflix. With just two weeks to go, until that dated day, there’s plenty of time to raise the hype level to new heights. Which of course brings us to this massive new trailer for the new batch of episodes. Fair warning though, this one is heavy on story beats. Turn away, if you want to avoid potential spoilers.
Ok, so admittedly, that’s a lot to take in. We finally have a better overview of what is in store this season. Evil from the “upside down” still lurks and threatens the heroes. Possibly even taking up new residence within Billy. You know evil can’t pass up a good mullet. It’s an unwritten rule or something. Whatever is going on looks to be massive and everyone is going to have to pull out all the stops, in order to make it through the holiday in one piece. It looks fantastic.
The other big thing here, is the nostalgia factor. Stanger Things has made a bit of a living, on creating likable characters steeping deep in everything 80’s. From the Stand By Me and Goonies vibe at its core, to The Ghostbusters and a litany of other films and TV shows. They weave it into the DNA decently enough. Without seeming too cloying. Which brings us to a couple key little visual bits. Steve and Dustin hold up a vial that feels both Ghostbusters and John Carpenter’s Prince Of Darkness. Because if there’s one thing all kids love, it’s liquid Satan. Then there’s the giant laser doohickey, which just so happens to share a very very very similar look, to the giant shrinking device from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Surely that’s just our imagination looking for things, at this point. Right?
What did you all think of the trailer? Are you glad to see the gang all back together? Is the show growing slightly stale to you at this point? What other Easter eggs did we happen to miss in the footage? Make sure to let us know, down in the comments. We’re just a little bit away from seeing if this series can attain new heights or if its shine is slowly growing dimmer. We’re cautiously optimistic and if this final trailer is anything to go off of, there’s many reasons to be excited. Be sure to check out Stranger Things Season 3, when it drops exclusively on Netflix, starting July 4th. It’s not like you’ll have plans that day or anything. If you did, you might want to reschedule them.
