Which Video Games Landed on Our Top List for 2016?

2016 had it’s share of disappointments in the gaming world but it also had some triumphs. Here are some of the high and low points in 2016 gaming.

Top 5 Triumphs of 2016

Inside

I played this game a little late this year but once I started I couldn’t put it down. Great art style, fun puzzles and a story that I still has me scratching my head but I absolutely loved it! Granted the campaign is only roughly 4 hours long – but I guarantee you will not put down your controller until you’re done!

Overwatch

I picked this game up on Black Friday & have been kicking myself in the butt for not buying it day one it is not the shooter I expected and has by far become my new favorite FPS period!

Gears of War 4

Xbox Ones leap into the Gears universe is a great one with amazing graphics, awesome story and a solid multiplayer a must have for any Xbox owner.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

I was gifted a PS4 for Christmas and this is the first game I played through on the system and needless to say Naughty Dog had hit another one out of the ball park.

Doom
In 2016 we witnessed the return of the great – DOOM – and what can I say about this game that hasn’t all ready been said? Great graphics, fast game play and a gore fest to boot. Sadly the online multiplayer is the only thing holding this game back landing it higher on my list!

Top 5 Disappointments of 2016

Mighty No.9

This was a lot of Mega Man fans most anticipated game this year and it bombed horribly. The gameplay was nothing we were promised and the graphics were absolutely awful. Seeing that this game was heavily backed by fans on Kickstarter for over 3 million dollars I expected more.

Star Fox Zero
I wanted to like this game, I really did, but Nintendo killed it with gimmicky controls making it damn near impossible to play. However if the controls were the normal Starfox controls this game would be nothing more than another port of Starfox 64 which isn’t necessarily a bad thing – but come on Nintendo give us something new!

No Mans Sky
For a game that won so many awards at E3 it looked very promising. While exploring the galaxies may be fun at first, it falls short in the entertainment department.

Umbrella Corps
Another Resident Evil shooter need I say more!?

The NES Classic Mini
Ok, Ok let’s get one thing straight I do not own a NES Classic Mini and that’s what’s SOOOOO disappointing about it. Nintendo shows us this amazing classic throwback plug and play with HD graphics & an amazing game lineup sure to please any retro gamer out there. However they ship it in limited quantities making it hard for anyone to receive one and gamers are scalping the system with a price tag of well over $200 for a $60 game console. Come on Nintendo get your shit together deliver the goods to the people that deserve it! That’s why this is on my disappointment of 2016 list!
