Humble Beginnings: The First Appearances of Your Favorite Marvel Heroes

It seems like the best superheroes have been around forever.  Saturday mornings as a kid with the X-Men, discovering your body with Deadpool; the point is that they’ve just always been there. Or have they?

Here’s a look at some of the not-so-ordinary origins of your favorite superheroes.

7. Wolverine (The Incredible Hulk – issue #181)

Wolverine appeared in a single panel of Incredible Hulk #180, but then starred in Incredible Hulk #181 as the main adversary – unsuccessfully battling Hulk himself.  Oh, Canada.

6. The Punisher (The Amazing Spider-Man – issue #129)

The Punisher first appeared as a violent vigilante with no moral dilemma with killing criminals.  He was portrayed as a master marksman and a top-notch strategist with the intention of killing Spider-Man for what he perceived as the murder of Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin.
