John Boyega Caught a Pikachu While Filming Star Wars Episode VIII

EVERYONE has caught Pokemon fever and Star Wars leading man John Boyega is no exception. He couldn’t resist downloading the popular app even though he was in the middle of filming Star Wars Episode VIII in London. I guess you need something to do in between scenes – why not try to catch them all while you wait.

So which Pokemon was he most excited about?
“I found a Pikachu at Pinewood Studios while filming Star Wars. I told EVERYBODY. ‘I got a Pikachu!’ I was the most popular kid on set for like a day,” he explained.

While a few people are yelling “get off my lawn!” and dissing players for being nerds or dorks, Boyega has a different take on it: “It’s great the ways technology has brought us all together,” he said. United for the greater good!

Boyega is only on level 5 so far but has continued to try and ” catch them all” in between filming Episode VIII. While we aren’t quite sure if he is an avid gamer he did call upon EA to make a Star Wars Battlefront include single-player mode. Even Han Solo agrees…

The next installment of the Star Wars universe has been reported to be even “bigger and darker” than The Force Awakens and only time will tell if it lives up to the much anticipated hype. But if it is anything like The Force Awakens we will not be disappointed.

Episode VIII, which finished shooting at the end of July, also stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Laura Dern, Domhnall Gleeson, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.

Star Wars fans don’t have to wait until 2017 to see a new entry in the series, as spinoff movie Rogue One comes out this December.
