Check Out Nintendo’s New NES Trailer, Fresh From the 80’s

Recently, Nintendo surprised us all by announcing the Nintendo Entertainment System: Classic Edition, a miniaturized version of the NES of our childhoods that will contain 30 classic games straight from the original NES library. Today, Nintendo released the official trailer for the new/old product, showing us some of the games and its release date in an 1980s-inspired montage.

The NES: Classic Edition will become available on November 11, 2016 at $60 and includes 30 well-known games from the NES’s library. You’ll be able to play anything fromSuper Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda,  Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Metroid. It even uses modern tech, by way of an HDMI port.

As a bonus, the NES controller that comes with it will have a Wii Remote connector, meaning that it will plug it into a Wii Remote to play Virtual Console games on Wii or Wii U. Nintendo has stated that it will sell additional controllers at $10 each. If you don’t want to use the included gamepad, you will also be able to connect a Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro to the NES: Classic Edition. It should be noted, however, that if you want to play two-player games, one must be the included NES gamepad.

Nintendo has confirmed that the console will not receive any additional games beyond the 30 included. It will not be able to connect to the internet, and it won’t have a functioning cartridge port, so you’ll still have to dig out your original NES if you want a taste of that less-convenient nostalgia.

You can check out Nintendo’s site dedicated to the upcoming system here.
