One of the biggest animated surprises of last year, was Teen Titans Go! To The Movies! It was filled with wild non-sequiturs, some decidedly questionable jokes and a willingness to both make fun of the DC movies and the superhero genre as a whole. Most people would tell you it was a lot funnier than it had any right to be. They’d also likely point out that the OG Teen Titans, from Cartoon Network, popped-up in a post credit sequence. This was but a tease of an up coming special one-off movie, Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans. Today we’re lucky enough to get a trailer for the special, which is packed with a whole bunch of, well, maybe you should just see it for yourself.
Admittedly, this is an interesting route to take with a team-up. Fan of the original Teen Titans show have been clamoring for a continuation for sometime. Now, a sticking point may be the deviation of the design of some of the characters, yet there’s an energy and focus on “fun” here, that is perfect for a DTV offering. And if there’s one place that Warner Bros. has excelled with their comic book features, it’s on the animation side. They constantly pump out features like this 3-4 times a year. More often than not, they’re high quality. A few times even doing standout adaptations of some of the best comic stories ever. Crossing fingers that streak doesn’t end here.
