Super-sized Predator Featured in New ‘The Predator’ Trailer

The first teaser trailer for Shane Black’s The Predator now seems like a huge bait and switch.

Released over a month ago, the first trailer offered small glimpses into what we could expect from Black and his writing pal Fred Dekker. Back are the familiar crackle of the Predator, some weapons we’ve seen used before – most from the oft-panned AVP movies – and even some small nods to the prior films.

NOW, we get an even deeper and better glimpse of how the movie is shaping up. Embedded below is the newest trailer, complete with what appears to be a massive new Predator antagonist that is definitely promising to deliver a punch we haven’t been privy to before.

As seemingly unstoppable as the Predator proved to be in the first entries of the film franchise, upping the stakes is the logical next step. Arnold defeated one. Danny Glover took one down in Los Angeles. It’s only fair to assume that the Predators learned from these encounters – and countless others with hunted alien species – and took to rectify some of their shortcomings. Enter, Mega Predator.

Details are still scarce as for the story of The Predator but from what we can piece together, the Predators are summoned back to earth accidentally. Audiences that love the franchise will no doubt fawn over the amount of action present in the trailer, with small story snippets interjected to fill in the “why” holes. We discover the Predators have been adapting, attempting to create the perfect hunter, and by the looks of the massively gargantuan Mega Predator in the trailer, they succeeded. Is this the time we finally fall to our extraterrestrial foe?

In theatres September 18, 2018, The Predator stars Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Thomas Jane, Alfie Allen, Jacob Tremblay, Sterling K. Brown, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes,  Augusto Aguilera, Edward James Olmos, and Yvonne StrahovskiJake Busey plays the son of Gary Busey’s Predator 2 character Peter Keyes.
