Has there been a bigger cultural television phenomenon, this past decade, than Game Of Thrones? Virtually everyone watches or has watched the show at some point in the past 7 seasons. Even if their viewing lapsed at some point, they’re likely to tune in for this final run of episodes. Which is to say, in terms of advertising, you don’t have to do much to convince people to check it out. Case in point, there’s a new teaser that cropped up last night, sure to send people into a tizzy.
Now, truth be told, there’s not really any new footage to be gleaned here. In fact, what we see in this teaser is purely to get people excited for the eighth and final season. We’d say in that context, it gets the job done. We see three of the Starks (Sansa, Jon Snow and Arya) in what appears to be their family’s catacombs, passing by the ghosts of the past. Winter is officially here and no one will ever be the same.
Of course, the biggest piece of info nestled in the video, comes at the very end: the premiere date. As with the majority of past seasons, things kick off in April. April 14, to be exact. There’s only 6 more episodes to burn through, but they’ll all be longer than an hour. Which will be more than enough content for fans to pour over. Hopefully it all ends in grand fashion. If Game Of Thrones ends merely on a whimper, there’s a chance people may revolt.
What do you think of the teaser? Does it make the three month wait all the more unbearable? What characters do you think will perish before all is said and done? Did any fans of the books have a Lady Stoneheart sized lump in their throat due to the stony visage of Catelyn Stark? Let us know down in the comments. We’ll be providing coverage of the show, once it airs. Be sure and boldy mark your calendars for April 14 . This is going to be something you surely don’t want to miss.
