‘The Punisher’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ Cancelled by Netflix

It seemed inevitable. First, the cancellation news of Iron Fist hit. Then, Luke Cage. Rounding out the trio of axed shows was Marvel’s Daredevil.

There was still hope that Marvel’s The Punisher and Jessica Jones were to be spared. Alas, hope resides no longer.

Per reporting by Deadline, Marvel has decided to pull the plug on the remaining two properties currently streaming on Netflix and has given no indication as to whether or not they will be resurrected in any form or fashion.

The Punisher himself Jon Bernthal offered a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ via Instagram to the droves of fans that pushed Marvel’s The Punisher to become one Netflix’s most successful titles. He wrote:

To all who have served. All who know loss. All who love and understand Frank and his pain. It has been an honor to walk in his boots. I’m endlessly grateful to the comic fans and the men and women of the Armed Services and law enforcement community who Frank means so much to. Thank you to the USMC and all the wonderful soldiers who trained me. Go Hard. Be safe.

Marvel’s The Punisher debuted Season 2 on January 18th while Jessica Jones Season 3 has yet to set a date for later this year. With the conclusion of the latter, the Marvel properties that introduced the masses to the lesser-known comic personalities will have come to an end.
