In the middle of last week, rumors started swirling that a new Spider-Man: Far From Home was on its way. The came word that it would be proceeded by a warning from Tom Holland, that the trailer was full of spoilers for Avengers: Endgame. This was backed up by the Russo Brothers tweeting out that Monday would see the veil lift on spoilers. So, the best way to start here, is to say “if you haven’t seen Endgame yet, run far far away.” The majority of this news piece is going to be heavy on Spoilers, as that’s the only way to discuss the trailer. Avoid this trailer, if you haven’t seen the film. It’s a great trailer, trust us on that. It’ll still be here once you’ve seen the film.

Again, last warning Spoilers past this point!

There’s a ton going on here. A lot of answers are given about the future state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, that leads to even more question. After the Events of Endgame, the world is clearly mourning the loss of Iron Man. On the plus side, we get to see Spider-Man don 3 costumes here. Three! The biggest reveal here? Well, that’s the possible introduction of the Multiverse. This concept isn’t new to comic readers, but it is a big deal on the cinematic front. Nick Fury says “the snap ripped a hole in our dimension.” That’s a major development! Although, since the info comes from Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal), aka Mysterio, it could be a lie. While he’s seen here forging an alliance with Fury, Maria Hill and Peter, he’s traditionally a villain. So, excuse us for thinking something smells fishy here. Outside of hydro-man, that is.

It’s easy to see why this trailer came with a warning though, as the next Spider-Man outing ovbiously picks up right after the events of Endgame. In the process, it’s clearly setting up untold exciting paths for the MCU’s Phase 4. That makes sense, in a way. Marvel worked hard on a deal to bring Spider-Man over to their slate of films. Might as well have him front and center, for the foreseeable future.  Does the introduction of the multiverse signal an easy way to bring in Fox properties like Deadpool or The Fantastic Four? Is it all just a misdirect the film will answer in the third act? We have no clue, but we can’t wait to find out. Be sure to mark your calendars for July 2, when Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters. As luck should have it, tickets are on sale now.
