When a film features a title as audaciously awesome as The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then Bigfoot, you shouldn’t need any other info to help sell you a ticket. Yet, since some people aren’t so easy to satisfy, today we have a trailer for the movie. It has Sam Elliott in all his mustachioed glory (again, enough to sell 5 tickets to one person). Behold.

Well, I’m sold. Everything about this trailer is fantastic, even if it seems a bit more meditative than the title would let on. That’s possibly a great thing too, as too much silliness can crowd films sometimes. Elliott looks unflappably cool here, yet that much was already a given. It’s also nice to see Larry Miller show up, playing what seems to be a low key role. The sci-fi trappings that crop up in the middle says there’s a lot going on in this movie. This may also be a case where extensive flashbacks aren’t only necessary to the plot, but will be just as interesting as events in the present. Based on the word of mouth from when it premiered at Fantasia Fest last year, this film very much worth seeking out.

Here’s a longer-than-usual official synopsis, which is forgivable, seeing as how exciting a picture it paints:

“Since WWII, Calvin Barr has lived with the secret that he was responsible for the assassination of Adolf Hitler. Now, decades later, the US government has called on him again for a new top-secret mission. Bigfoot has been living deep in the Canadian wilderness and is carrying a deadly plague that is now threatening to spread to the general population. Relying on the same skills that he honed during the war, Calvin must set out to save the free world yet again. Starring Sam Elliott, Aidan Turner, Caitlin FitzGerald and Ron Livingston, The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot follows the epic adventures of an American legend that no one has ever heard of.”

What do you think of the trailer? Does this seem like it will satisfy your winter genre film itch? Are you ready for Sam Elliott in all his glory? If you had to face one mythological creature, what would it be? Our comments are ready for your wildest answers. You’ll be able to see if The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then Bigfoot lives up to its title, when it releases simultaneously in Theaters, Digital HD and VOD, on February 8.
