Disney’s D23 Expo is full of updates and insight on “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” just ahead of San Diego Comic-Con. Today at the expo director Rian Johnson debuted a new behind the scenes reel about the making of “The Last Jedi“. Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaacs all make appearances along with a sneak peek at a few new creatures.
The director said at one point that the film may seem “shocking” when audiences finally see it due to it’s somber tone along with seeing Carrie Fisher on screen one last time. The behind-the-scenes reel is part of an expertly-crafted promotional strategy that Disney also followed with both “The Force Awakens” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Instead of debuting fresh new Star Wars content at SDCC they jumpstarted things at the Disney Expo instead. That’s not to say we won’t see more updates, panels and content at Comic-Con but it certainly appears the D23 Expo did the heavy lifting this year. Check out the Behind-the-Scenes footage below long with some new character teaser posters.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15, 2017.
