The Girl in the Spider’s Web is the upcoming addition to films focused on Millennium hacker Lisbeth Salander, with Claire Foy (The Crown) taking on the role most recently portrayed by Rooney Mara in David Fincher’s installment The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Foy’s character is known in summary as “the girl who hurts men who hurt women” and this trailer gives us a first glimpse of what to expect when it hits theaters November 9. Have a look below:
The Girl in the Spider’s Web is directed by Fede Álvarez(Don’t Breathe) and also stars Stephen Merchant (Hello Ladies, Logan), Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049), and Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread).
This particular installment is based on the 2015 novel by David Lagercrantz, which followed the successful Millennium trilogy created by the late Stieg Larsson. Fincher’s 2011 film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo suffered a lack of commercial success, which ceased any plans to adapt the next two books in that trilogy from going further. There was a separate and moderately successful Swedish adaptation of Larsson’s trilogy, with Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) as Salander.
