Denzel Washington Proves He Hasn’t Slowed Down At All In First ‘The Equalizer 2’ Trailer

Sony Pictures Entertainment

In life there are basically three things you can usually count on: death, taxes and that an aging thespian can crack skulls with more relish than their younger counterparts. If you doubt this last part, then you haven’t been paying attention to the last decade’s worth of action films. A prime example is 2014’s The Equalizer. That film re-teamed Denzel Washington with director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and worked as a solid updating of the 80’s television classic. The movie was all kinds of ridiculous, while also featuring some great beat downs. Washington even wields a corkscrew and nail gun at one point, because he’s equal opportunity when it comes to weaponry. Seeing as how the first entry proved to be a surprising hit, that naturally means a sequel was in order. Well today a trailer for The Equalizer 2 has exploded across the internet. It’s easy to see why.

Now, yes, that’s technically the international trailer and not the US trailer, which can be seen here. There’s good reason why we choose to highlight it. Not only does it set up the plot more naturally (while also excising the annoying teaser at the start), but it features more badassary, which is why people want to see this movie in the first place. As evidenced by the footage, everything seems to be bigger and better than the first film. Just as the action gods decree. Things also follow the “this time it’s personal approach”, because, well, see the previous statement.

Because a trailer alone (well, 2 technically) is worth nothing, Sony also decided to reveal a sparse, yet cool looking poster for the film. Take a look at it below and make sure to mark your calendars for July 20th, when The Equalizer 2 is sure to pulverize the masses.
