Netflix Announces a Castlevania Animated Series

The Belmont Family Arrives on Netflix in 2017

Netflix has announced a new animated TV series based on the 1990’s NES game Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. If the series follows the lore of the game, then it will follow the exploits of Trevor Belmont battling the forces of evil in 1400s Europe.

Although there hasn’t been a lot of details released about the series, we do know that there are plans for at least 2 seasons.  Season 1 is set for release in 2017 while Season 2 is slated for 2018 as stated by producer Adi Shankar (producer of The Grey and Dredd.)

Shankar stated “I personally guarantee that it will end the streak and be the western world’s first good video game adaptation” and will be “R-rated as f**k.”  This of course means that we will potentially see a great deal of violence and other adult themes.  Season 1 and 2 were written by Warren Ellis, writer of Extemis (A six-issue Iron Man story arc).
