Atomic Blonde Is Primed To Explode At San Diego Comic-Con

Focus Features

Chances are, if you’ve been living under a rock, you may not be aware of Focus Feature’s upcoming fight filled extravaganza Atomic Blonde. It’s set to be one of the most anticipated films of the summer, brimming with action and style. With the San Diego Comic-Con right around the corner, the filmmakers are making sure they leave an impression.

Star of the film Charlize Theron will be on-hand as a guest at Entertainment Weekly’s Women Who Kick Ass panel. She’ll be taking part in their inaugural “Icons” section, which will cover her long and illustrious career. That will take place on Saturday, July 22 from 2MP-2:45PM in Hall H. Which means you better plan on getting there early.

In conjunction with the panel EW will be launching their annual “Inside Comic-Con” special, which will be handed out on the streets of the SDCC, as well as will be available on tablets starting Thursday, July 20.

If that wasn’t cool enough, there’s also going to be a free screening! It will be held at UA Horton Plaza 8 at 8PM on Saturday, July 22. Seating is first-come, first-served, so plan accordingly While this is open to all badge holders, it is restricted to 21+.

For those in need of a refresher, Atomic Blonde is a neon infused spy thriller set in Berlin at the tail-end of the Cold War. MI6 agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is tasked with recovering a missing list of double agents before it falls into the hands of the Stasi, or worse. Backed by a kinetic soundtrack that’s just as propulsive as the action on-screen, this isn’t a film to miss. Directed by David Leitch (John WickDeadpool 2) and co-starring James McAvoy, John Goodman and Tody Jones, it opens wide on July 28th.

We saw Atomic Blonde back when it premiered in March at SXSW, so be sure to check that out  here.  Are you all excited for the movie? Feel free to sound off in the comments below and let us know what you think.
