Paramount has released the final trailer for the upcoming sci-fi movie Arrival, which sees Oscar nominee Amy Adams encountering aliens who’s intentions have yet to be determined.
The trailer depicts the day alien spacecraft arrived on Earth. Adams’ character (linguist Louise Banks) is recruited by the US government to make first contact. Upon entering the alien pod, Adams’ character attempts to discover the aliens’ language in the hopes of establishing communication. Not every government agrees with how to handle the situation (spacecrafts have apparently landed on various continents) and the threat of global war hangs delicately in the balance. There also appears to be a sequence in the trailer where Adams’ character is seen dreaming in the language of the aliens. Take a look below:
Arrival also stars Jeremy Renner and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. It’s directed by Sicario‘s Denis Villeneuve, who is also directing 2017’s Blade Runner 2049 starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.
Arrival is based on Ted Chiang’s 1998 novella Story of Your Life and will hit theaters November 11.
Regarding the look of Arrival‘s aliens, Renner told USA Today, They’re “not goofy creatures with guns who are going to kill us.” and Adams teased that they will look “different than what you would have thought.
