Alicia Vikander was only 8 years old when she was first introduced to Lara Croft in TOMB RAIDER. It was the first time she saw a lead character in a video game and she has been dreaming to be part of a big action adventure film. Now those worlds combine as she becomes Lara Croft in the new Warner Brothers film coming to theaters in March 2018.
TOMB RAIDER is the story that will set a young and resolute Lara Croft on a path toward becoming a global hero. Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) is an Oscar winner and I loved her role in Ex Machina. If anyone was going to play Croft in a reboot of the film franchise she was born to do so. It is a relentless film that she took on head first and never looked back. They actually had to re-shoot a couple of scenes because Vikander turned to blue because of the cold waters she wading through during filming. Talk about being a trooper during filming. Watch the featurette below and her Alicia and the crew talk about her transformation to Croft.
The film’s production begins on the heels of the 20th anniversary of the wildly popular video game franchise from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. We expect to hear more about the game around the time this film gets released.
TOMB RAIDER also stars Dominic West (Money Monster, 300), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained) and Daniel Wu (AMC¹s Into the Badlands). Watch the new trailer below!
