A24’s “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” Gets A New Still And Release Date

A24

If the name A24 eludes you at all, then you haven’t been watching many movies the last few years. Rattling off the films they distributed in 2016 is basically to copy someone’s “best of” list. To name a few: American HoneyThe VVitchSwiss Army ManGreen RoomThe Monster and Moonlight. See, not much to scoff at really.

They’re back at it again, with The Blackcoat’s Daughter under their wing. Here’s the official synopsis:

Kat (Kiernan Shipka) and Rose (Lucy Boynton) are left alone at their prep school Bramford over winter break, when their parents mysteriously fail to pick them up. Joan (Emma Roberts), a troubled young woman, is determined to get to Bramford as fast as she can. As Joan gets closer to the school, Kat becomes plagued by progressively intense and horrifying visions, with Rose doing her best to help her new friend as she slips further and further into the grasp of an unseen evil force.

Boarding schools are always a bad thing, as far as horror is concerned, so one can only imagine the shenanigans that will take place. The theatrical release date for this one is March 31st, but if you happen to have DirectTV, you can see the movie starting on February 16th. Which is a plus to lord over your friends who make fun of you when it rains.
