UPROXX Takes Up Residence at Austin’s Biggest Festival of the Year SXSW

Uproxx

Uproxx Media Group, one of the world’s largest digital media and content companies, is heading to Austin, TX from March 9th – 11th for the city’s biggest festival of the year. Uproxx House, presented by Uproxx and The Sexton Single Malt Irish Whiskey, will take over the space at 101 W. 5th Street for daily talks and evening celebrations with the most innovative minds in music, film, and tech.

“Austin in March is ground zero for the newest in music, film, and creativity–essentially, the backbone of Uproxx. Naturally, we had to be there. This year, UPROXX with The Sexton have set up shop right in the heart of the action, on 5th and Congress, and we’ll be featuring talks with the artists and creators who are moving the needles of culture forward,” said Uproxx Co-founder and Publisher Jarret Myer.

Hosted each day from 2:00 – 5:00PM by Uproxx Cultural Critic, podcast host and author Steven Hyden, Uproxx House’s daily talks feature industry heavyweights, independent creators and rising stars of the music, film and tech worlds.

Following the daily talks, Uproxx will continue the celebration of creativity at Uproxx House from 6:00 – 11:00PM with a DJ spinning and custom bar featuring The Sexton – an approachable single malt, rich in hue and bold in personality.

At 8:00PM on March 9th and 10th, Steven Hyden will be joined by some of today’s brightest and most innovative creative minds for live panel discussions and showcases. They include: Cannes-winning filmmaker Edward Buckles, fashion entrepreneur Davidson Petit-Fuère, who has dressed a breadth of celebrities from Jay Z to Steph Curry, as well as photographers Peter Don, who is currently Halsey’s tour photographer, and Megan McIsaac who has photographed artists such as Ryan Adams, Reggie Watts & Devendra Banhart. On the finale night, March 11 Talib Kweli closes out the weekend with an exclusive DJ set.

Night 1: Creative Minds Discussion – A panel of creative entrepreneurs will discuss the driving force behind them and introduce an upcoming mini-documentary series titled THE RESTLESS. Lead by renowned culture critic Steven Hyden, the independent creatives will chat through the intersection of film, style, music and art in today’s culture and share more about their passion and the personal restless spirits that lives within.

Night 2: Film & Photography Showcase – A behind-the-scenes look at the work that distinguishes these young industry tastemakers — featuring exclusive clips from Buckles’ upcoming documentary KATRINA BABIES, custom designs from Petit-Fuère along with photographic excursions from Don and McIsaac, the night will dive into what it truly means to be a restless creator.

Night 3: Uproxx House Finale Party featuring Special Guest DJ Talib Kweli – Talib Kweli will wrap up the weekend with one of his infamous DJ sets following an exclusive interview about his current album “Radio Silence” and his upcoming and highly anticipated “BlackStar” album with longtime collaborator Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def.
