Starz hosted a fully immersive “Sensory House” activation at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival celebrating the unique tones and experiences of two upcoming original series, “Vida” and “Sweetbitter” both premiering May 6th, 2018. Located on Rainey Street in the heart of Austin, the STARZ Sensory House brought attendees on a journey of sight, smell, taste, touch and sound through the offerings of local female artisans.
Guests were invited to sample a custom collection of scents inspired by four of the main characters in “Sweetbitter,” designed by local perfume bar owner Krista Lacey of Roux Saint James; a Sugarfina candy bar inspired by the tastes of salty, sweet and bitter; a curated wine bar and daily wine tasting by Rae Wilson; on-site printed t-shirts and totes with designs inspired by each show; custom cocktails whipped up by local cocktail wizard Tacy Rowland; music spun by The Chulita Vinyl Club, an all-female DJ collective; mini-manis featuring five custom designs inspired by “Vida” and painted by local nail artist Meghann Rosales and her Nails Y’all shop, as well as portraits on display by celebrated Mexican textile artist Victoria Villasana.
