Guillermo del Toro will join director André Øvredal at San Diego Comic-Con to discuss elements of dark storytelling and how they brought Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark from the book to the screen.

The panel will take place Saturday, July 20th. The time is TBA at the moment. del Toro is no stranger to Comic-Con and is always a treat to listen to. He brings energy and excitement to every panel and project he is a part of. This should be no different.

Tackling such an iconic book and its collection of stories from Stephen Gammel is no easy task – but the hype they have built around it appears to be warranted and promising.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will be in theaters from CBS Films and Lionsgate on August 9th!

The film takes place in 1968 America. While change is blowing in the wind, far removed from the unrest is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.
