Worry not my children for thou have not been forsaken by AMC! Preacher will return for a 13-episode second season.
Announced early Wednesday via press release, AMC president Charlie Collier sang the praises of series creators Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen, and Sam Catlin. “What Sam, Seth, Evan and the entire creative team have achieved in bringing Garth Ennis’ graphic novel to the screen is extraordinary,” he said. “We look forward to more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond.”
Adding to their already robust stable of must-watch series, AMC’s Preacher follows the exploits of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a man of the cloth who is on the hunt to literally find God. In tow are his Irish vampire “bestie” Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), and his gun-toting ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga).
Ennis’ comic had a 5 year run, amassing 75 total issues, containing content that will definitely “challenge” the production team of the show to remain true to the source material. If the first season is any inclination of their steadfast faithfulness to the original vision, we can rest assured that AMC’s Preacher is set up to be one hell of a ride!
