As two of the biggest action movie draws working in film today it was only a matter of time before someone got the brilliant idea to put Keanu Reeves and Jason Momoa together. But most would not have imagined that someone would be unconventional director Ana Lily Amirpour.
Amirpour is best known for 2014’s A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night – an uncomfortable love story about a female vampire who prowls the streets of a Middle Eastern slum. Her next project, The Bad Batch sees her honing these bloodthirtsy, dystopian sensibilities in a desert wasteland where a lone heroine played by Suki Waterhouse runs afoul of a seemingly-cannibalistic Keanu and his private army.
In the new trailer for the film, we catch glimpses of Waterhouse’s capture and apparent dismemberment at the hands of the weird marauders before finding a seeming ally in the form of a hulking, tattooed, meat cleaver-wielding Momoa. Details of The Bad Batch are elusive based on the trailer alone, but what we see of it looks sleek, surreal, and action packed.
The Bad Batch is slated for a June 2017 premier. Fans who can’t wait until then for their dose of bloodshed can see Keanu Reeves as the ultraviolent title character of John Wick: Chapter 2 or see Jason Momoa as a ruthless fur trader in Netflix’s period epic Frontier. Either way, be sure to check out The Bad Batch’s trailer below!
