The Underworld franchise is almost 15 years old and Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is still fighting to end the eternal war between the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. It’s mind boggling to me the franchise has lasted as long as it has but I am always up for more Kate Beckinsale. The series reminds me a lot of Resident Evil in terms of the longevity, strong female lead and video game visuals that include slow-mo fight scenes and over the top cinematic experiences.
Beckinsale is joined by series regulars Theo James and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), as well as new addition Tobias Menzies (Outlander). It almost looks like they took a set from Game of Thrones and re-purposed it for this film toward the end of the trailer.
The next installment of the Underworld franchise is in theaters everywhere January 2017.
