Sony Announces Futuristic Animated ‘Ghostbusters’ TV Series Set in 2050

Sony has given the green light on a new Ghostbusters series! Nope not the franchise reboot, a new take on the original animated series. Titled, “Ghostbusters: Ecto Force,” the series will take place in the year 2050. Set to debut in 2018, the project is spearheaded by Ivan Reitman, director of the original 1984 “Ghostbusters” movie. That is a huge plus in my opinion.

I was a big fan of the original cartoon as a kiddo and even have a couple of the action figures sitting in my room from the original series.

In an odd way I am actually looking more forward to the animated series announcement than the film reboot that is coming out later this next month. Not because it’s an all-female cast, but because the dialogue feels forced and loses a bit of the charm of the original characters. My other gripe about the new film is the over abundance of CGI ghosts. They look to slick and to perfect. Give me grit. Give me slime. Give me grainy apparitions of times gone by. Sorry ladies. I love you on Saturday Night Live!
