The ‘Halloween’ Hype Has Begun

We maybe just shy of 6 months out from the release of David Gordon Green’s ‘Halloween’, but this week we got a few details relating to the project that will have everyone excited to revisit Laurie Strode, The Shape and all the residents of Haddonfield, Il. Earlier this week we saw what Michael Myers will look like in the new film when Blumhouse released the first teaser poster. Check it out below:

I saw he looks Pretty awesome. Some people have expressed concern that the weathered look of the mask is giving them bad Rob Zombie flashbacks. But I think an aged mask perfectly fits in perfectly with idea of a film set 40 years after the original.

The second major update we got this week was from an interview that star Jamie Lee Curtis did with Yahoo where she said that the new ‘Halloween’ will play as much like a reboot as it will a sequel and feature Michael Myers who once again is embodiment of the boogeyman. Here are the full quotes from the interview.

“I’ve seen a trailer and I’ve seen some footage, and it’s terrifying… They went full-tilt boogeyman. And I’ve never said that in my life, and I will say full-tilt boogeyman for the rest of the year as I go around talking about this.”

“It’s the original story in many, many, many ways. Just retold 40 years later with my granddaughter.”

Again I know some people might bristle at the idea of a Halloween “legasequel” that ignores all of the films except the original, but consider me officially hyped. In many way these properties last so long because the lend themselves effortlessly to new and intriguing ways of  bending and selecting what parts of the continuity you want to tell your story. It doesn’t always work, but everything we’ve seen and heard from Blum, McBride and Green suggests they are massive fans of the film and this will be a worthy addition to the Halloween franchise when it comes out on October 19, 2018.
