This week it was announced that David Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley and The Big Sick) and Iko Uwais (The Raid 2) are all coming together to star in a new action comedy called Stuber. Not much is known as of yet except a brief synopsis and that it is directed by Goon‘s Michael Dowse.
Stuber is described as:
” Fox acquired the Tripper Clancy- penned spec in April 2016 about a determined detective (Bautista) who commandeers an unsuspecting Uber driver (Nanjiani) over one night of hijinks and mayhem. Details of Uwais’ character are still under wraps.”
I don’t know about you but this is exciting. It seems like an unlikely trio hitting the big screen. With two great action stars doing what we can only assume is most of the action parts combined with the comedy genius of Nanjiani, it sounds like a great team to me!
It will be fun to see Nanjiani in an action film. We have to assume that he will be carrying most of the comedy weight but if you have seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 then you know Bautista has some comedy chops hidden underneath all of that muscle. Now if we could just find out what Uwais is up to that would be great! But whatever his role is we know it’s sure to be bad ass!
We can’t wait to hear more about this as more details unfold but rest assured that we will bring you more updates as they roll in!
