Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Cover Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’ Theme

Jason Voorhees be damned! Well, he kind of already is but there is exciting news this Friday the 13th and it’s not coming from Camp Crystal Lake. Instead it has come from the minds of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who have added a modern take to the theme from John Carpenter’s Halloween.

While Halloween is fast approaching its 40th anniversary, the name Michael Myers (or simply the Shape for you Carpenter purists out there) has become synonymous with spine-chilling dread and immediately triggers frightful memories of the hauntingly beautiful theme.

The song is available for download via Google Play, iTunes, and Amazon by clicking here.

Carpenter has already intrigued horror hounds and audiophiles alike by announcing the upcoming Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, set to release on October 20th.

With the release of the new album quickly approaching, Carpenter has recorded updated versions of his tracks from Into the Mouth of Madness, They Live, The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, and many more. Carpenter has also decided to head back out on the road in promotion of the new album with his new tour kicking off in Las Vegas on October 29th.

So are you staring down the hedgerow anticipating Michael Meyers at the end? Do you like the new take on one of the most chilling themes in movie history? Sound off in the comment section!
