The New ‘Widows’ Trailer Is Here To Set Your Day On Fire

Widows
20th Century Fox

After only three full length features, it’s kind of hard to bet against director Steve McQueen. Going from Hunger to Shame and then 12 Years A Slave doesn’t exactly happen by accident. So, even without a stellar trailer, you could say expectations were high for his latest, Widows. Hell, you throw in Gone Girl‘s Gillian Flynn doing the writing, you have the makings of a possibly great movie. Yet after watching the footage below, you might want to kick the excitement factor into the stratosphere. Take a look.

“Wow” seems like an understatement there. That’s some major major talent assembled both in front of and behind the camera. Now, heist movies are notoriously difficult to pull off. Juggling so many elements and what not. Yet if anyone can pull it off and create a mini crime epic? It would be this crew here. For those of you who can’t witness the brilliance on display, here’s the official synopsis:

Widows is the story of four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities. Set in contemporary Chicago, amid a time of turmoil, tensions build when Veronica (Viola Davis), Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo) take their fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms.

This film seems primed to explode and better yet, it’s hitting right before the holiday movie season, which means there’s an awards run in the future for Widows. Until proven otherwise, we’re inclined to agree. Make sure to mark your calendars for November 16th, because this is one film you definitely aren’t going to want to miss.
