With so much insanity or darkness clouding people’s timelines these days, it sure feels like we could use a ray of sunshine. Or, you know, a spoonful of sugar, to brighten your morning. Thankfully, a new full length trailer for Mary Poppins Returns has arrived to cure everything. Take a peek.

Not gonna lie, that looks a thousand different shades of delightful. Of course, that depends on where you fall on the original. For those who are fans, this has everything you could possibly want. Kites. The Banks Children. An animated world. Singing. Dick Van Dyke dancing. Plus the glorious additions of Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins herself and Lin-Manuel Miranda as a time displaced Lin-Manuel Miranda (or “Jack”). A cursory glance at IMDb even lists Angela Lansbury in this thing!

As per usual, for those who love reading, here’s the official synopsis you crave:

“In 1930s depression-era London, Michael and Jane Banks are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen, living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack, uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Mary Poppins also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy.”

If there’s one thing Rob Marshall knows how to do, it’s make sumptuous movie musicals that win over general audiences. Into the Woods and Chicago both proved to be success, even racking in a few Oscar nominations in the process. Just don’t bring up Nine. Everyone is better forgetting that exists.

What do you all think? Does this Mary Poppins Returns trailer make you happy? Are you rallying against it because it’s a sequel? Will Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt be enough to make you turn out for this one? Let us know in the comments. Either way Mary Poppins Returns looks to sing and dance its way into everyone’s heart on December 20th. Till then enjoy this new poster.
