The Suspiria remake has become the stuff of urban legend. Many people have whispered that they had a cousin who dated a guy who knew a guy who heard from a director’s dog shampooer that the Suspiria remake is going into production. Well, whisper no more. Why we were all busy speculating if it existed or if it was all just an Argento fever dream, Suspiria has quietly been announced as a 2017 release.
Attached is director Luca Guadagnino (A Bigger Splash, Call Me By Your Name). The cast includes Dakota Johnson as Susie Bannon, Chloe Grace Moretz as Patricia, Tilda Swinton as Madame Blanc, Mia Goth as Sara, and Jessica Harper from the original film making her cameo as Anke.
So there we have it, Suspiria is going to be in the vaulted hall of remakes. To believe rumor, though, Suspiria is supposedly less of a remake and more of a tribute; which is a movie claim that we have all heard before.
We’re looking at you Ridley “Prometheus isn’t an Alien prequel” Ridley.
Regardless, it seems that we will all have a 2017 Suspiria to watch sooner rather than later. Wether Goblin is dusting off their synths to revisit the classic score is still up for speculation.
Keep an eye out and we will be sure to share any images or trailers that come our way. Until then, put your eyes on perhaps the worst trailer for a great movie in the history of everything.
