Outside of the movies, talk to anyone about the Star Wars franchise and they’ll get excited about one thing: the animated serials. Both The Clone Wars and Rebels have proven to be popular additions to the cannon. Filling a gap left when the EU (expanded universe) was shuttered, after the series moved to Disney. With Rebels having ended earlier in the year, a new show hits televisions this fall, titled Star Wars Resistance. The first trailer for which, dropped earlier today. Take a look:

While that may be a relatively short look at what Resistance has to offer, it’s none the less intriguing. Doesn’t hurt when you put a focus on the sequel trilogy favorites like Poe Dameron and BB-8. Even if it’s likely they’re only around for the extended pilot. Here’s the official synopsis, for those who like that sort of thing:

Star Wars Resistance, is an exciting new animated adventure series about Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order.

It’s also hard not to discuss the look of the show. A preference for a 3D art style, over 2D animation has been something the star wars tv efforts have leaned towards. The Clone Wars has a very distinctive look, whereas Rebels was a log less angular, though still wholly its own.

The best part about Resistance may be that it shares the same creator as the other shows in Dave Filoni. Though not involved everyday, focusing instead on the Clone Wars new season, he have a hand in shaping the new series. Speaking of familiarity, it has been confirmed that Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie will be reprising their roles of Poe and Captain Phasma, respectively.

What do you all think of this? Are you excited for this Star Wars show, or are you saving enthusiasm for more Clone Wars? Do you have a place in your heart for more tv shows or are you strictly a movie fan? Either way, Star Wars Resistance flies onto the small screen on October 7th on Disney Channel.
