Chloe Grace Moretz and her profane mouth might be what first comes to mind when someone thinks of Hit-Girl. However, fans on the Millarverse know that Mindy McCready is still seeking bloody justice today. Today we found out that Kevin Smith will be writing a limited run of the ongoing series. The story will focus on the character coming to Hollywood and doing what needs to be done in a #TimesUp world. Smith will be teaming up with artist Pernille Orum on the upcoming run. Their first issue together is ‘Hit-Girl’ #13 which is due out January 2019 from Image Comics.

Mark Millar, who still oversees the current publications of ‘Kick-Ass’ and ‘Hit-Girl’ along with building his burgeoning Netflix/Millarverse empire, is incredibly thrilled to have Smith onboard. He said “Kevin is one of my favorite people in Hollywood. He writes dialogue the way I wish people talked, and his intelligence and humor fits into this world just so perfectly”. The Clerk’s director also spoke highly of Millar and his young assassin. He mentioned that writing this project really helped him in the wake of his recent heart attack.

I haven’t been overly excited for a Kevin Smith project in a long time. So this doesn’t move the needle for me much. I still really like “Kevin Smith: The Personality” so I wish him all the luck. Contrarily, I am not the world’s biggest Mark Millar fan. Truthfully I really despise how he tells his stories. As much as I root for Smith, I think this whole project feels like a bad idea. Honestly, I can’t see a world where this story isn’t clumsy and tone deaf. Maybe i’ll be wrong, but highly doubt Millar and Smith are the men to tell the #MeToo superhero story.
