We’ve known about Jon Favreau’s upcoming live action Star Wars series for a while. It was first announced when Disney seemed like they couldn’t miss with the Lucasfilm property. The summer of ‘Solo’ has cooled some of the excitement for a world of multiple Star Wars films every year. However, there are still a few irons in the fire, and Favreau’s show being a big one. The series will serve as one of the pillars of Disney’s new streaming service that will launch next year.

The main question surrounding the series was “what is it actually about?”After all, there are a lot of stories to be told about the Galaxy far, far away. Today, we got our answer as to what story Favreau and his team want to tell. The new series will be called ‘The Mandalorian’. Jon Favreau also provided a brief synopsis of what the show will be about. Read it for yourself below:

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic…”

That’s definitely an exciting proposition for a Star Wars spin-off. By keeping the series in the outer rim and away from the Empire/First order, they are giving themselves a great opportunity to differentiate themselves. That is probably the biggest issue about all these spin-offs so far. They have all been so afraid to expand the universe in any real way.

It’s also smart to make he main character a Mandalorian I think. Everyone loves Boba Fett and I think Favreau can add another worthy character to the Fett legacy. Also, we cannot overlook how dope that helmet is.
