It just wouldn’t feel like Halloween if there were pictures of some movie star dressed up in an extravagant costume. While this isn’t quite that, it’s still rather good. Just last month we brought you the news that Henry Cavill would be stepping into the lead role for Netflix’s The Witcher Series. You can see where this is going.
Behold! Here’s your first look at Cavill as Geralt of Rivia!
Well he certainly looks the part. Which is to say he has a Stern look on his face, is wearing a leather piece of armor and has silvery locks. This is an early early tease, but it sure will get people excited about the show.
Here’s the full synopsis, in case you haven’t played the games or read the novels just yet:
“Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.”
Where the picture all the news out there, this would be a very short post. But wait there’s more! Netflix took to Twitter to premiere some “test footage” of Cavill all dressed up.

Strangely, this is far more effective than just the image above. Seeing him in motion adds a little bit more weight to the part. As does the potion swig there at the end. A little detail that’s sure to go a long way with fans.
Unless Netflix is willing to do little character videos for all the main essential characters (not likely), it may be a bit till we see more from The Witcher. Production is set to begin soon in Hungary and a release date is a hit of a ways off too. Whenever something does crop up, we’ll toss it out asap. For now, we’re gonna sit be, be patient and play a few rounds of Gwent. If you don’t know what that is, we suggest checking out the books, to pass the time.
