If there’s one thing everyone knows about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s that spoilers aren’t exactly tolerated. The Russo Bros. wrote a letter (or plead) to fans stating this for Avengers: Infinity War. Then again with Avengers: Endgame. Tom Holland has been well documented revealing things he shouldn’t & then chided by co-stars. The brass does occasionally let’s some info fly, but at their own discretion. Usually tied into some presentation or footage release. Unless, apparently, your name is Vin Diesel.
While on press for the new film, Bloodshot, Diesel let slip a few details to First Printing (via Comicbook.com). While it’s not an exorbitant amount of detail, it is interesting nonetheless concerning the focus of the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.
Taika Waititi is going to use the Guardians of the Galaxy in Thor 4.
And Groot is evolving.#FirstPrintingpic.twitter.com/iFVZWKBr0J

“Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy. That’ll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.”
Diesel says the info was conveyed to him while talking with writer-director Taika Waititi. So, we’re inclined to take it as somewhat being true. When you factor in that Thor spent extended time with both Rocket & Groot in Infinity and then Rocket specifically in Endgame, it clicks. Not to mention the fact that he gets on the Benatar with the rest of the Guardian crew at the films conclusion.
Diesel wasn’t done though, as there was another tidbit he had to get off his chest. This time, concerning Groot.
“As for that character, I only have two words to say: Alpha. Groot.”
Not what we were expecting, but might be fun. It all depends on if this is a joke or a natural step forward. Groot becoming “Alpha Groot” due to the time he spends with a Thor finding his center, makes sense. If he’s just an insufferable domineering version of Groot, that could grow thin, rather quickly. Then again, baby Groot and teen Groot may have seemed silly at first, yet we know how that shapes up.
Since Marvel has a pre-planned way they like info getting out, this could all be bunk. That is comes from Diesel, is why you can give it slight weight. The Fast & Furious star and producer has a way of willing things into being. Should any of this not be true, his putting it out into the world could be his hope to change that. I mean, the man just got done making F9 (Fast 9). Anything is possible.
Thor: Love & Thunder, possibly co-starring some of the Guardians of the Galaxy, bolts into theaters on November 5, 2021. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 currently has no release date. Should all of this be revealed to be completely untrue, in say 48 hours, we’ll let you know.
