After the resounding success Charlie Booker’s modern masterpiece saw last year, it made sense that Netflix would be bringing back Black Mirror as soon as possible. Today, thankfully, they’ve got everyone excited as they not only dropped a teaser, but also revealed casts and directors for each episode.
First here’s the teaser:
That all looks so good. Just the slightest of information doled out, but enough to make me very excited for what’s in store. While the titles were revealed in that short video, here’s the details on who’s in front of and behind the camera:
Black Museum – dir. Colm McCarthy. Starring Douglas Hodge, Letitia Wright, and Babs Olusanmokun.
Crocodile – Directed by John Hillcoat. Starring Andrea Riseborough, Andrew Gower and Kiran Sonia Sawar.
Metalhead – Directed by David Slade. Starring Maxine Peake, Jake Davies, and Clint Dyer.
Arkangel – Directed by Jodie Foster. Starring Rosemary Dewitt, Brenna Harding, and Owen Teague.
Hang the DJ – Directed by Tim Van Patten. Starring Georgina Campbell, Joe Cole, and George Blagden.
USS Callister – Directed by Toby Haynes. Starring Jesse Plemons, Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, and Michaela Coel.
Holy cow is this line-up stacked, or what? Some great actors are flanked by even better directors! Jodie “freaking” Foster is on that list! If that wasn’t enough, John Hillcoat who directed the stellar The Proposition & The Road, and even David Slade, recently bringing the good to the Hannibal tv series have their own episodes. Actor-wise my attention went straight to Jimmi Simpson and Rosemary Dewitt. Anything they find themselves attached to is always worthy of your time.
For those not entirely sure what Black Mirror is, it’s an anthology series in the vein of The Twilight Zone or Outer Limits. As with previous seasons, creator Charlie Booker writes every episode, which gives a sense of completeness, though each work stands out on their own.
If you aren’t caught up on the series, every episode is available for streaming on Netflix. This includes the first 2 seasons, which originally aired on Channel 4 in the UK.
While no true release date was given, the show is expected to drop before the end of the year. The sooner the better, if you ask us!
