The cast of “American Gods”, Starz upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel, continues to grow. Today it was announced that Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, Chris Obi, and Mousa Kraish are joining the cast.
Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope) will play Zorya Vechernyaya, the eldest of three sisters who the main character, Shadow (played by Ricky Whittle) stays with during his journey. Also living with the sisters is their brother, the Slavic god Czernobog, who is being played by Peter Stormare (Fargo, Prison Break). Chris Obi (Snow White and the Huntsman) will be Anubis, the Egyptian god of the dead, and Mousa Kraish (Parenthood) will be The Jinn, a mythical fire creature.
American Gods follows an ex-convict named Shadow Moon, who takes a job as bodyguard for Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane), a mysterious old con-man. Their journey takes them all across the United States, where, Shadow discovers, a war is brewing between the ancient gods of mythology and the modern gods of technology, fashion, entertainment, money, etc.
Previously confirmed cast members include Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) as Laura Moon, Sean Harris (The Borgias) as Mad Sweeney, Yetide Badaki (Masters of Sex) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as a modern god named Technical Boy, Crispin Glover (Back to the Future) as Mr. World, and Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom) as Low Key Lyesmith.
