If you’ve been following along with the developments on Netflix’s upcoming Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, you know ever new piece of news is better than the last. So it comes as no surprise that today’s trailer for the series, is just icing on the cake. Take a gander.
First of all, hats off to the marketing department over at Netflix. No matter if they’re selling a movie, documentary or tv series, they know how to hook you in under a minute. The above is no different. Move over Melissa Joan Hart, there’s a new witch in town. You just knew with the involvement of the people behind Riverdale, that things would turn out good. Were you on the fence before, hopefully this sold you. Things look delightfully dreadful. Colors pop. The cinematography is striking. That demon, devil, horned whatever at the end of the dinner table. Yeah, October can’t get here soon enough.
Should the footage prove to be too cryptic (it is just a teaser, after all), here’s the official synopsis, to help:
“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”
Yes to all of that. Putting the show on Netflix seems like the perfect pairing, as it’ll allow the team behind the show to get as weird as their heart’s content. Something they mostly do on Riverdale, but are now free to truly wallow in.
Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men, The Blackcoat’s Daughter) leads a rather stacked cast as Sabrina. She’s joined by the likes of Lucy Davis, Miranda Otto, Bronson Pinchot, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle and Michelle Gomez.
There’s also no need to worry if the show lasts past one season. Netflix has already greenlit a second order of episodes for the series. Now we all just need to twiddle our thumbs until October 26th, before a Halloween binge-a-thon can occur.
Do you like the teaser for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina? Does it bother you at all (like me) that there’s no “the” in the title? Are you more partial to the TGIF version from the 90’s? Or are you instead waiting for an inevitable crossover with Riverdale, before you pledge your allegiance? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
