You want more Batman news? Well, good (hope you said yes) as we’ve got more news. This time involving everyone’s favorite iteration of “The Bat of Gotham”, Batffleck! While no one may actually call him that (at least to his face), Ben Affleck appears to be heading back into the superhero world, once again.

As reported by Variety, Affleck would reprise his Batman role, for the upcoming DC film, The Flash, starring Ezra Miller. Though mum is mostly the word on the film, directed by IT‘s Andy Muschietti, we know it’ll be based in part on the Flashpoint story run, from the comics. With the fabric of time and space altered, we also know there will be more than one Batman featured. It was previously revealed that Michael Keaton would return to play his version of the caped crusader, from the ’89 film. If they’ll interact at all, is anyone’s guess. We’d bet on no.

Of course, with this development, speculation will run wild as to how substantial a role Affleck could play. Initial word is a cameo (think Suicide Squad), although bookending the film, makes a bit more sense. That’s also kind of goes along with Muschietti’s tease to Variety:

“He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before…It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.”

What do you all make of this news? Does a few more moments with Affleck’s Batman get you excited? Are you at all dismayed that he never got his own individual outing? The comments are open below, for to share till your heart is content and exhausted. The Flash is set to speed into theaters, on June 22, 2020. Both Miller & Affleck’s versions of their respective characters can be seen in Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League next year, on HBOMax.
