Behold The First Trailer For M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Old’

Leave it to M. Night Shyamalan to have a Super Bowl trailer. 30 seconds might not seem like a lot. It isn’t. Yet, in order to sell one of his movies, it’s all you need. He can make it seem like an eternity. Ample time to let people know the whole film is as twisty as, well, wherever you may go to get your pretzels. Here it is, the trailer for Old.

While you understandably try to figure out what all that means, here’s the official synopsis:

“This summer, visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day.”

The great thing about this trailer, is that it essentially starts like The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Although, instead of a pack of Compsognathus lurking about, it’s father time with a nasty streak. Given the nature of the plot, it’s hard to really have any theories, at this point. Shyamalan has been on a roll (critically and financially) recently, so whatever he puts out, is worth your attention.

Will it be worth it? Will theaters fully fully be open, to witness this on the biggest screen possible? It’s kind of hard to argue with a cast this packed. Thomasina McKenzie, Alex Wolff, Gael Garcia Verbal, Embeth Davidtz, Vicky Krieps and Rufus Sewell are going to see if they have what it takes, to outrun a ticking clock. You’ll have to be a little patient, as Old isn’t coming out until July, 2021.
