BBC and New Line has barely begun production on season 1 of ‘His Dark Materials‘, but we already know a season 2 guaranteed. The series is based on the Philip Pullman trilogy about killing God (among other things). This is not to be confused with the NatGeo movie based on the Bill O’Reilly book about killing God. The Dark Material books are actually really good fantasy novels that deserve their beloved status. The series has previously inspired a big budget adaptation with 2007’s ‘The Golden Compass’.
The new series will star James McAvoy, Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson & Lin Manuel Miranda. ‘His Dark Materials’ is said to the be biggest production in BBC history. With a cast like this it’s easy to understand why. Academy Award winner Tom Hooper will also be directing the series. There’s no word yet on when the new series will premier. But when it does it will be on HBO here in America and BBC One across the pond.
