I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Dave Bautista can’t catch a break. When it comes to his film My Spy, that is. As you may remember, we’ve been one of the sites tirelessly (some say frivolously) following the progression of this film. Because Dave Bautista being in a film where he protects and is bested by a small child moves us. Or because it has a PG-13 rating, indicating the action may actually be solid. You can see our extensive coverage here and here and here or even here. Today though the ongoing saga hit another snag, in that it’s moving hands to another studio.

Should you be someone who has missed our oodles and oodles of coverage for the film, here the trailer, to jog your memory.

Fear not, you fans of Drax, while it looks like My Spy is being slightly delayed, you’re still going to see it. Only now in the comfort of your own home. After bouncing around multiple dates in the us, due to coronavirus theater shutdown, it has a landing spot. Deadline has the exclusive that none other than Amazon Studios has swept the film up from near obscurity. They haven’t set a premiere date, for the film, yet with streaming platforms wanting to put out as much “exclusive content”, as it can, as fast it can. Expect a firm time frame, in the next couple of days. Hopefully. This one is almost going the way of The New Mutants.

What do you all make of this? Was My Spy on the list of films you were excited for, this spring? Did any of you see John Cena in Playing With Fire? Maybe this one doesn’t fizzle out as quickly as that did. Share your thoughts with us in the comments. With the likely outcome being that theater’s doors stay closed into July, there’s going to be more acquisitions like this. Thought they won’t all have Dave Bautista, well keep our ears to the ground. Letting know what we find out, as soon as we can.
