Alamo Debuts HARDCORE HENRY + Stunning Mondo Poster

The Alamo Drafthouse is excited to announce director Ilya Naishuller’s rip-roaring debut feature HARDCORE HENRY as the latest Drafthouse Recommends title. Shot entirely from the first-person perspective, HARDCORE HENRY is an unapologetically violent, breakneck and exuberant experience. Truly, it’s a film like none other. And members of Alamo Victory – the company’s free rewards program – will be among the first to get their adrenaline pumping by experiencing it for themselves with special free sneak preview screenings at select locations on March 28 & 29, 2016. They will also receive a stunning Mondo-designed poster for free from artist Cesar Moreno. HARDCORE HENRY will open at Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide the following week, on April 8, 2016.

Not only will Alamo audiences get to mainline all the ultra inventive, hyperkinetic action of HARDCORE HENRY on the big screen, they’ll also be able to give their taste buds a nearly criminal dose of adrenaline with equally “hardcore” food specials. Alamo Chef Trish Eichelberger threw caution (and cholesterol levels) to the wind to create the epicurean epics known as the “Jacked Up Hardcore Burger” and the “Deep Fried Bacon Cheesecake.”

“I mean, a cheeseburger with a hot dog on it, that’s ‘hardcore,’ right?,” enthuses Eichelberger. “So why not put some bacon in a cheesecake? Some bourbon in the caramel? And yeah, let’s go ahead and deep-fry that son a b*tch because that is what I call ‘hardcore.’ When a tweet of mine about the conception of the deep fried bacon cheesecake was deemed ‘#HARDCORE APPROVED’ by the Hardcore Henry twitter account, I knew we had hit the mark.”

Drafthouse Recommends is Alamo’s own spotlight for groundbreaking, innovative and intelligent first run films – or, simply, new movies that Drafthouse loves and wants everyone to go see. Previous Drafthouse Recommends selections include THE WITCH, IT FOLLOWS, BIRDMAN, BOYHOOD, and SPRING BREAKERS.

A favorite at Austin’s Fantastic Fest and a breakout hit at the Toronto International Film Festival, HARDCORE HENRY is director Ilya Naishuller feature-length debut. And it is a doozy. Taking inspiration from the wildly popular first-person shooter video games, then cranking the stylized violence up to 11, the film is told entirely from Henry’s point of view – putting audiences squarely in the dizzying, death-defying action.

“This movie has ‘hardcore’ in its title for a reason. It’s just that: Hardcore.” says Alamo founder and CEO Tim League. “It’s a breathless 90 minutes of non-stop action. I know this is an expression that gets thrown around a lot, but HARDCORE HENRY is like nothing audiences have ever seen before. I saw firsthand the crowd in Toronto brought to its feet by the film’s power and sheer sense of fun.”
